1. About this policy

This policy covers the Pipod app, this website, and the public pages of episodes and podcasts you choose to share. “Pipod”, “we”, and “us” mean the team that runs them.

If you have questions about your information or want to exercise your rights, contact us at contact@pipodapp.com.

2. Information we process

  • Account and profile: email, sign-in credentials or Apple/Google sign-in identifiers, verification details, and optional name, username, photo, and bio.
  • What you create: prompts, uploaded documents, links, voice requests and transcriptions, scripts, generated audio, artwork, and other episode or podcast details.
  • Preferences: interests, onboarding answers, language, host and style choices, whether hosts use your name, collections, and News Radar topics and schedules.
  • Listening and service activity: listening time and progress, episodes being made, model and credit usage, plan records, and sharing settings.
  • Technical information: session records, the IP address and device type linked to a session, operational logs, and a push notification token when you turn notifications on.

Sign-in details, preferences, cached media, and downloaded episodes are also stored on your device. This website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find and use it. Its cookies are set only if you allow them; until then, Google receives limited measurements without cookies, such as the page visited, the browser, and the approximate region. You can change your answer anytime from Cookie settings at the bottom of every page. The website also remembers that answer on your device, and whether you paused its animations. It doesn’t use cookies for advertising.

3. How we use it

We use this information to create and secure your account; write, voice, and deliver your episodes; keep your library and listening progress; personalize hosts and suggestions; run scheduled briefings; send service messages and the notifications you choose; and manage your plan, usage limits, and credits.

Operational information helps us fix problems, keep Pipod reliable, and prevent abuse, including misuse of free credits. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we rely on: our contract with you, to run your account and make your episodes; our legitimate interests, to keep Pipod secure, prevent abuse, and improve it; your consent, for the microphone, speech recognition, and notifications, which you can withdraw in your device settings, and for analytics cookies on this website, which you can withdraw from Cookie settings; and legal obligations, where they apply.

4. Services involved in making an episode

We send information to service providers only when it’s needed for the feature you use:

Hosting and storageRuns the app and stores your account, episodes, and files.
AI modelsPlan and write your episodes, transcribe voice requests, and make cover art. Requests may reach the companies that build the underlying models.
Voice generationTurns scripts into the hosts’ synthetic voices.
Web searchFinds current facts for Quick Episodes that need them. It receives a short search query based on your request.
Email and notificationsService emails, and push notifications when you turn them on.
Apple and GoogleSign in with Apple or Google. Apple also provides on-device speech recognition, App Store purchases, and a device check that lets us keep two flags about a device to prevent misuse of free credits. The flags contain none of your content.

When you add a link, Pipod fetches that page and its preview, so the website receives the request. Each provider handles information under its own terms, and some process it in other countries, including the United States.

5. Voice and device permissions

Voice episode requests are recorded and sent for transcription. Other dictation features may use your device platform’s speech-recognition service. The resulting text can then be used to make an episode.

You can always type instead. Microphone, speech recognition, photo access, and notifications are only used for the features you choose and the permissions you grant. Change these permissions in your device settings.

6. Content you choose to share

Episodes and podcasts can be made public by link. A public link shows the episode or podcast details, audio, artwork, and transcript to anyone who has it, along with your name as the creator.

Sharing can reach beyond the people you meant it for. Turning public access off doesn’t delete copies that someone else has already kept.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your account and content while your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your account, your content, and the files stored with it: audio, covers, profile photos, and uploads.

Some information can remain for a limited time afterwards in backups and operational logs, with service providers under their own retention terms, or where the law requires us to keep records. The device flags described in section 4 are kept by Apple for the device, not your account, so deleting your account doesn’t remove them.

Downloaded, exported, or shared copies may remain on devices or with the people you shared them with.

How to delete your account

8. Your choices and rights

You can edit your profile and preferences, choose whether hosts use your name, manage public sharing, change device permissions, pause or delete News Radar series, and delete your account.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or get a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to how it’s used, to withdraw consent, and to complain to a data protection authority.

To make a request, email contact@pipodapp.com. We may ask you to confirm it from the email address on your account.

9. Children

Pipod is for people aged 13 and over, or older where the law of your country requires it. We don’t knowingly collect information from younger children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. The date below shows when it last changed.
